Omega 1998 2.5 Litre - Dash Light Problem
« on: 14 August 2008, 07:07:43 »

I have just noticed that the right side of the lighting, by the speedo does not work. Is this blown bulbs or something else?

The vehicle has only done 49K, surely it can't be bulbs?

Any help out there please.

yep very likely to be a bulb as they are all on a PCB so if it were a connection problem it would be more likely for all of them to go.  Whip out the dash and replace them - personally I'd replace them all when I was there.

there's a how to on here somewhere

I've seen plenty of brand new cars on the road with a light out. Milage isn't related to lamp/bulb life.  ;)  :y

Thanks folks for coming back to me so quick about the dash light problem.

Very good point about changing all the bulbs while I am at it. Will do.

The Haynes manual says to take off the steering wheel to remove the speedo assy., can the be done otherwise. When you say it is a ten minute job I assume that the steering wheel can be left intact?

Regards

Yes leave steering wheel on, look for a 'how to guide' it takes a little longer than 10 mins the first time, say 30 mins. Good luck.

the book of lies strikes again! but I have to admit that 10 minutes is a bit optimistic, I'd allow 30 minutes because you'll need to include time for a cuppa!

only 50k maybe but they could be up to 10years old. Seen the guide in maintenance section. The Haynes is known as the book of lies. Adjust the steering wheel to lowest position, pop the round  centre vent out and youll see the vent bolts remove the vent, you should then see the clock bolts on the left of the clock face. Iirc.
