knock sensor
« on: 19 August 2008, 15:40:27 »

on initial startup every day my eml lights up,cars pretty lumpy til it warms up,then light goes out and the car runs like a dream.during my journey the light comes on and goes off several times but no difference to performance, the codes i'm getting are 12,17 and 31.i understand that 12 and 31 are of no importance but 17 is knock sensor 2.this isn,t a major problem at the moment to the performance but it is getting slightly predictable.is it just a case of changing the sensor or could there be a more sinister reason for this to be happening.

First up, thats the sensor on the 2-4-6 bank on the passenger side.

Check the cable for damage.

Its not had the cam covers changed recently has it?
