Sometimes the ashtray can come unseated from it's "runners".  I had a stiff ashtray and by just removing it and reseating cured the problem.  It's easy enough to remove.

I had the same problem, took it apart and found some black bits of plastic behind the right hand side which were preventing it from closing.

Took a while to figure out and a lot of poking, prodding and dismantling and some luck finding the bits in the end.

My wife has the same problem on her Omega and on the previous one she owned, very annoying!

I had the same thing, removed the ashtray, found some bits of loose plastic, cleared them out, everything then fine.

do you have handsfree installed? the cables from the cradle can feed alongside the ashtray and through a cutout on the main centre panel and if the cable has slipped or been moved it can prevent the ashtray from being closed properly.

to remove it first open it, remove the detachable tray part using the grey button next to the cig lighter then behind this you will see a screw at the back, remove this and the two screws either side of the ashtray and it should pull out.
