How long for oil to burn?
« on: 28 August 2008, 08:56:02 »

I change a defective rocker cover last week and have done about 40miles since. It was the drivers side bank and for some time oil had been leaking down the back and side of the head. Two of the plug wells had oil in them.

I cleaned up as much as I could however I'm still smelling the burning oil thing when the car is at temp and stationary (with climate on ECO and temperature below 20C)

My question is, how long would you expect it to be before the leaked oil is completely burned up?

Cheers

Yep, it cna take some time.....a good long run normaly sorts it but it can take ages with shorted runs.

Its also worth wshing some of it off with some degreaser and a hose.

When the burning smell almost goes, as it will after 20k ;D ;D ;D  It's worth changing the pollen filter too...
