Don't know whether this helps, but I've just done my 2.6l dash bulbs an hour ago. The MID plug speaks for itself as you can see it to
re-connect but the centre plug, which engages when you push the panel fully home, can't be seen as you reinstall. Make sure you've pushed the panel fully home. I hadn't initially, but was able to confirm that it was fully home by ensuring that the screw holding brackets were right up to the holes.
Make sure the bottom centre screw bracket isn't fouling the plastic cover under the top steering wheel cover, preventing the panel from going right back. HTH.
Thanks shyboy, no problem with the dash, that all works fine, but i know what you mean. Its the colour info display(cid) thats not working. The 2 cables to it are quite short so i had trouble getting them out, esp as i have not done it before, i did not know how the clasp on the back of each plug works. Worked it out in the end. Sounds differant to yours. I have confirmed the plugs are fully home to cid with the clasps/clips fully down, i checked again this am. Didnt have time to pull the cage out to check the other end of the cable to head unit but i cant see any problems in there, the blue plugs in the cage seem to line up. I guess the only thing i can check now is that i have not bent a pin over in the cid screen socket, when i put the plug back in.
Maybe the trouble was, with not enough slack in the cable, i could not see the sockets and have my hand in there at the same time. Plus being thick, and turning on the ignition with the clocks out(but the cid cables still connected, i think) somewhere along the line the cid(colour version of your mid) has packed up. I cant see where the problem is.
I have had issues with pops and squeaks from the system in the past as my post in ice. Dave at DND said is sounds like a bad earth. Maybe that bad earth
packed up altogether with me pulling stuff about in there? Maybe? But it was only an audio glitch, no flicker from the screen.
Just one more thing, i found a metal clip sitting under the screen behind the dash. No idea where it goes.
