Wipers - Different lengths ?
« on: 07 September 2008, 10:52:41 »

Need new wipers-  but having a quick look it seems one is longer than the other.

Does anyone know if this is correct or should the both be same length?

Also if that is right which side should the longer one go  as I am getting a banging noise at the the top point of sweep on the drivers side. As i did not notice that they were different lengths when I removed them to do the scuttle a while ago , I wonder if I have put them back incorrectly.

I have not measured them yet - but thought i would ask first.

you may find the drivers side wiper has been put on the spline a fraction to far round and its hitting the a pillar. In my experience you need about and inch and a half between the wiper and the post to allow for play which will get worse on the fastest setting at higher speeds on a windy day. Driver side is longer and should have a spoiler on it to stop it lifting at speed. Gm are best.
