cat back exhaust from vx
« on: 08 September 2008, 10:43:55 »

just been quoted 295 inc vat from vx on tc for cat back system on a 3.2. Does that sound ok for price to everyone?
2 connector pipes and back box. I presume it come with all the relevant brackets and what ever? I forgot to ask . Cheers

sounds roughly right, must have gone up latley. Although i think the back box on 3.2's is more than the rest.

I paid £220 for cat back for a GM 2.2 zorst, so sounds right for V6.

Its much the same system, 2.2 has twin centre sections like the V6 as well.

Be interesting to see how the back box is, last one i saw was missing the chrome bit on the end with makes it a look a bit fatter.

Word is Vx stopped doing the chrome tail tips  :(

You will need to order the hose clamps and rubber "pig's noses" as well if you need them mate. IIRC a full set would be 3 hose clamps and 8 mounting rubbers oh and 8 spring clips for the rubbers unless you can reuse your old ones as I did.

Thanks Captain, i had presumed i would be able to re use the rubbers and have to replace the clips as they are barely recognisabl as bolts they are so rusty. I will have to cut them off i am fairly sure.

The 3.0 backbox is about £100, the 2.5 one is about £50.

Big difference cost wise - hence why I see so many 2.5 boxes fitted to 3.0's ;D

Tis a spring clip over the end of the locating pin, you may well be able to lever them off and clean up enough to reuse. That's what we did.
Replaced the hose clamps as they were knackered and as I'd only got 4 new rubbers I reused the best of them.

Well i just picked it up and at first glance i am a bit disappointed. Its nowhere near as detailed as the old one. Esp the back box, it does have rounded double skin tail pipes but they are not at an angle like the old one, and finishished in the same steel colour as the rest of the exhaust, no chrome as said which i was not too bothered about, but with that and the lack of detail v the original, looks a bit, well, cheap. The guy showed me it is the only part no. on ecp that comes up for the 3.2. so i guess i am stuck with it.
Part no.s      desc.               Price   TC
93181157 muffler with c 114  72.50
93181162 muffler with c 117  74.58
93192230 silencer              116  104.40  ? Ordered in.
Silencer does not seem to qualify for discount if ordered in? Anyway, anyone know if these are correct part nos? Looks like they are from what ive seen.

I noticed that, i ordered my 2.2 GM zorst about 2 years ago and fitted it.

Tail pipe was chrome, and slighly angled exit pipe (more of a slant)

Dads one fitted about 6 months ago, was kinda the same but not angled, and "more round" if that makes sense, pipe did not look as sleek. And as you say the same colour as the rest of the exhaust.

Shame.

Asthetics aside, its still much better than pattern shite.

Yep. I guess they have increased their profit margine to 500% by now. But it does look guite thick walled tubeing so it should last.  It had better bloody fit mind. Oh and they didnt have the U shaped clamps either so i hope i can use the old ones. The threads dont look to bad. Cheers
