I may be way off the mark but are you sure it's PAS and not just oil from the camshaft covers? :-? :-/

The common fault on the V6's involving oil and smoke is the cam cover gaskets leaking, partly due to blocked crankcase breathers.   Not aware of a PAS leak in that area.

If the 'oil' is deffo red then you will be needing to top up the steering resevoir regularly?  I would be cleaning all the area with some solvent or degreaser and then try to trace back the source of the leak to confirm.

Even when i managed to spill ATF from the reservoir last week when changing the PAS fluid, nothing went over the manifold, so i would still suspect cam cover gaskets.

fairly easy, guide in maintenance section. Do both, you may want to consider doing the plugs if due, they may well be oily, along with the plug leads check for any tears or nics out of the rubber. Also checking for any leaks, if you have one, in the v and round the back of the engine, all these are easier with plenum removed. As is changing the hbv. Hth.

I have a clear PAS leak from the front of the car - clearly red fluid is dripping. And when I give it some beans, it burns off the cats. At first I thought ATF, but, it's PAS!

I had a bad hydraulic fluid leak from the pump, there is a large diameter o ring seal for the rear of the pump body.

Only leaked under load but a lot of fluid.

The PAS is filled with ATF mate.

Doesn't help your problem though. :(
