I bought the car with over three quarters of a tank of fuel in it. It has averaged 25.5 mpg ( up from the 20 when I checked it first ). It said when I started driving I had 370 odd miles in the tank, it has slowly gone down and now with it under quarter of a tank it is say 120-30, which I think is unrealistic.

Are they accurate, how far do you guys push it ( ie my dads old damiler, when it said you have 30 miles you actually had 0.5 ).

Also getting around 27 MPG ( what I seem most likely to get with my driving ) what can I expect from a tank, I am thinking about 400 miles, also, how big is the tank ? ).

Oh and this Current Consumption display is the bane of my life and everybody who drives behind me, all I do is look at it and try and keep it above 35MPG, it is like a really crap computer game.  So how slowly can you accelerate to 30 ?

I have had an experience with mine with the displays says ZERO it runs out thats how accurate they are.... !!!  what engine size have you got

Quite the power house, a full 2 whole litres of ecotec grunt.

Only reason I ask really is because when i parked the car up the other night it said I had 149 miles left ( which I thought was wildly optimistic ) then this morning it said 119 ( sounding nearer to what I would expect ), just wondered what happened to my 30 miles, maybe the omega fairys came along and went for a spin in the middle of the night.

if i could get 119 miles outa quater tank of petrol i would be well pleased,,, somewhat of a dream if i get anymore than about 90 miles from quarter tank.......

It will change alot this time of year with damp/cold starts it should move back up a bit when you start driving again..

My 3.0 is currently giving 28mpg. The tank is 70 litres (about 15.5 gallons) so quarter of a tank gives you 3.8 gallons. So around 100 miles before it conks out.

You get plenty of warning though. When your range gets low (I think its around 30 miles ?) the range starts flashing in the MID. WHen the fuel guage goes into the red the fuel light comes on. Then when it gets to the bottom of the red the fuel light will flash at you. This is a good time to fill up. I usually find once it starts flashing I have around 4 litres left in the tank, around 20 ish miles . MID usually says ~10 miles at that point.

Had mine down to 0 a few times. Had other Omegas run out with a couple of miles to go...

last time mine ran out of fuel the gauge said 15 miles so i take it with a pinch of salt now

is this dependent on the car being on a level road on how accurate it is?

I've done about 1000 miles since I filled up with petrol 10 days ago and the MID still says 360 Miles Range and the fuel needle is still on the full mark

I've had mine down to zero range and still squeezed a few miles more out of it ( I love living on the edge 8-) ) the range is re- calculated every 18 miles I think so range is related to the most recent driving style, hence why it can drop like a stone when driving around town after a motorway cruise

My findings of the range thing are

if you put £10 or less worth of fuel in the Range will not notice the extra fuel atall and will count down to zero even when theres still a gallon left

however if you fill up with £20 and it counts down to 31 mi and less once it hits zero the engine usually runs out within a mile or so!

That makes sense, also explains why it leaps going up and down, read the manual, said every 20 miles it is recalculated so at least I don;t think elfs are nicking my petrol.

After filling up the vehicle, the range
adjusts itself automatically after a short

hmmm..i must admit, i dont really pay much attention to the OBC...never have.  the other day consumption ave read 27.3 mpg - next morning i absolutely CRAWLED to work, not exceeding 70mph at all - getting home that evenin, checked it and it read 24.2...hmmmmmmmm trustworthy
