BACS transfers take 2 working days - ie Bank debits your account Monday - arrives as cleared funds AM Wednesday.

Alternative is CHAPS - which is same day value - but costs around £21 for the priveledge  :y

Some Bacs payments are sent by employers to an outside service, some are paid via their own equivalent of Online banking.

First thing to do is to get confirmation of the account number and sort code that the payment was sent to and check it agrees with yours.  Also confirmation of the date your employer was debited.

If there is a difference when the funds arrive at the bank (ie 1 digit wrong) they will either return it (2 days) or locate and credit your account, which will not show until tomorrow as being paid in today.

So call your Bank in the morning and check it's not there then play holy hell!

My boss is in Thailand..

He paid me via internet with bacs on last Wednesday night so i was told..Still no cash showing in my account.. I beleive account number is correct so i think he is pulling a fast one, Looks like it could be a short week for me as i wont continue working if i have not been paid.

Ok it is the first time he has done this but i think its an excuse..Questions will be asked angrily in the morning..

Thanks for the info..

May be a little more complicated then.  If he's used a UK bank then my advice stands.  If he uses a Thai bank then it could take a lot, and I mean a lot longer.  2 days relate to UK transfers only. Overseas could as best take a week, at worst 2/3 weeks  :'( If he's used Internet banking though I think he's telling porkies and hasn't keyed it  - easy fix is to ask him to print a transaction report showing the wages coming out and fax it to you as a good faith gesture whilst he chases the payment.

Yes
Still no money  :(

Checked account numbers, Boss says it has been returned in to their bank..I phoned my bank and they said we have not received it and we would not send a BACS payment back because we understand its wages..

Funny thing is that everyone else has been paid only me no money..
When talking to  Natwest customer services which is my bank he did mention was it from HSBC, I said yes but did not question hime about why he asked.

I have requested from my boss that 2 weeks wages to be available to me at the latest ofn Friday or im walking..
