lumpy old thing
« on: 07 October 2008, 17:20:26 »

driving to work yesterday me car started to sound funny i know the exhaust back box is on its way out as i have pulled out some hair like stuffing out, the car now sounds like a V8  well it is a V6 loosing power , i took it to a private road last night and it was making one hell of a noise at 80 when i got home more stuffing came out but i think im getting the odd wiff off fuel which i never had before,so is it just the case of the back box or something more sinister?

Box is disintegrating internally .. :(  the hair like stuff is the silencer wadding, this will badly restrict the flow of the exhaust gas and lead to poor performance and lousy efficiency .. time to change the box I'm afraid .. :(

If you don't you'll probably blow a hole somewhere else due to the increased pressure .. if you haven't already done so ....

Never in a month of Sunday's ... :(

Personally .. Genuine Vauxhall every time ... they last much longer and sound much better. If you intend to keep the car for more than 18 months .. go genuine ...
