Hi all
I've just got hold of a July 1999 registered GLS estate with the 2.0l petrol engine and auto box. The car is in reasonable condition, drives fine and (other than a blow somewhere in the exhaust) I have a couple of queries:
1) Engine hunts when idling - the forum suggests the Idle Control Valve is the most likely suspect - any where else I should look
2) The tyres do not 'look' right - they are 195/65/R15 - the handbook states I should have 205/65/R15 - so, should I get them replaced asap with 205 or is it OK to tootle around on the 195's?? (or is the handbook wrong?)

my first omega had a195/65/15 on so i dont think anythink to worry about , but when i re-newed i did put 205/65/15 ,
  up to u i think  not much help but might make u at ease !!

 as for hunting yes clean it out  first !!

As a former 2.0 owner, I can say that the ICV is a fairly straightforward job to do. And it has a 99% chance of sorting your idle problem. (My auto used to rev up to 2,500 rpm...  )

It's worth a go. A few clips, half a dozen bolts and a Saturday afternoon.

.....................Also clean the breathers as well as this will only block up the ICV again plus cause the cam cover gasket to leak as well.

it's not too bad to get too if you take off the intake ducting with the screwable clip things and then the icv has two allen key screw things (one lower down than the other)

hope that helps, also if you put some carb cleaner or similar down the breather pipe with the choke on it (thinner of the two coming off the cam rocker cover
