Omega Elite Seats in a Omega CD
« on: 25 October 2008, 18:43:18 »

Well, just been trying to fit my Elite leather interior to my 2003 Omega CD...

No problems with the rear seats, the plug for the heated connection was there but I suspect I need to buy another connector from Vauxhall to get it all working...

Passenger side seat went in fine too... There was a yellow multiplug that was not being used which was strapped to the loom... Plugged that in and everything worked fine.. This yellow connector was not used with my old cloth trim standard seats...

The problems came with the drivers side seat... It looks like it needs the same yellow connector..., this doesn't appear to be anywhere on the drivers side loom... We took all the trim off, nothing strapped up any where...

Does any one have any ideas about this...?, we found a taped up block behind the kick panel on the drivers side, and wondered if there may be an extension that fis off this to extend the loom to the drivers seat...?

Any help would be great... Basically, we are missing a yellow multiblock plug on the drivers side...

Elite seats require memory functions, a CD spec car won't have the loom in place, it will need to be retro fitted.

Passenger one is plug and play as its just motors, no memory functions.

Dont have much experience with late facelift but dont they have a passenger seat occupancy sensor to do with the airbag system?  That would explain a connector found on the passenger side but missing on the drivers side.

What year elite seats are you putting in?  If you've got old pre-facelift elite seats you'll have problems with missing side airbags.  Even putting new style mini-facelift (98) seats into a full facelift there are some minor connector differences and difference in the heat function - facelift has multiple heat settings and 4 wires go to the seat for heat whereas mini-facelift has only heat off or on with 2 wires.  Hopefully you've got facelift elite seats for your facelift CD?

But basically the functions are the same.  If your existing CD seats are electric up/down and heated then you have all the wiring there you need.  If i recall you should have 4 pins for heat, 2 pins side airbag, 2 pins pretensioner and two pins motor power.  Plug and play putting the elite seats in if they're the right year.

However the driver's seat wont move until you power up the memory box under the seat.  This normally happens through the 20-pin rectangular connector which you should find on your elite drivers seat but wont find a matching connector on the car.  Only elites have this connector - it contains the wires out to the memory mirrors.  You need to feed off the main seat power to power up the memory box through this connector (dunno which pins though) or directly under the seat (diagram on here somewhere).  When you've done that your driver's seat will work with memory too.

As for the rear seats, you hopefully got the rear heat extra loom with your elite seats.  This is a little loom extension only fitted to elites that plugs into the main car loom with a square plug near nearside rear wheel arch, and provides two relays, plus connectors to the seat.  Need to get this loom off an elite if you dont already have it.  Also need the rear heat switches which will just plug in - wiring already available.

Try a search on here as this has been covered a lot - recently too!  Maybe why you haven't got an overwhelming response!

Hope that helps.

Hi Liam

Thanks for taking the time to offer your advice... I just wish I knew a bit more about how the electrics work...

My simple fix was to try and get hold of a second hand, drivers side loom from the facelift Omega Elite, but every time I ask a main dealer for the part number they just scratch thier heads..., and say "you don't want to do that!"...

If I had the part number at least I could have a starting point...  :-?

I really don't have a clue about splicing in to the exist connections, so I think I'm dead in the water...

Connectors required are:

Side Airbags
Pretensioners
Electric functions

The later, the Elites have a different plug for, due to it supporting mirror memory.  You need to provide 12v to it for simple seat movement and seat (only) memory.  From memory, its 4 wires - 2 Brn (0v) and 2 Red (12v)

Some photos of your car/seat plugs may be helpful.  For now...

1.  Does your CD already have electric up/down on the seats and heated seats?

2.  From what year car are the elite seats you're trying to fit?

Basically though, all your wiring should be there except the memory mirror stuff.  Shouldn't need to be buying loom from VX.  Refer to your existing seats - follow wires to pretensioner, motors, airbags (yellow sleeved wires I think) etc and thus identify what plugs on your car provide what feeds to the seats.  Then make sure car pretensioner wires go to new seat's pretensioner, car motor power wires go to new seat's motor power etc etc etc.  As I said if your new seats aren't the same year as your car there may be some connector differences.  For example, I remember when putting a 98 mini-facelift elite interior into a facelift CD, the pretensioner plug was different, so we swapped the whole pretensioners over so he still had his old pretensioners on the new elite seats.  Etc Etc...

If the donor seats are from a Pre 1998 car, sell them and get some later ones.

This won't cure the connector issue, but will ensure its possible to do, and retain vital safety systems.

My CD is a standard 2003 model with the up and down heated seats...

The Elite seats are from a 2002 model....

On the drivers side all the connectors and plugs seem to be there except for this rather large yellow on that is missing...

I've plugged all of them in the coresponding connectors but because I'm missing the big yellow one, there is no power, nothing to the seat...

if your not bothered about it your aswell missing the connector off and just tidy up the wires with elecy or black tape.
im sure people have probably said this before but for the memory on the seats you need to provide a 12v feed from the other wiring for the seat (from live feed going to the seat )

Yes, you have to improvise and supply the 12v to the connector.  As said earlier, from memory its 2 x 12v and 2 x 0v
