hi, can someone please tell me how hard it is to change the manifold on 51 plate, with the engine z22xe, it cracked and been welded but is now blowing again, many thanks from dan

Not too back, but certainly on 2.0 ones, the studs can snap in head, and need drilling out.

Not too bad.  Much easier than a V6, that’s for sure.  I did the manifold on my 2.0 a few years ago and suffered x2 or x3 sheared studs.  I took the old fannifold off quite easily with Haynes as a reference.  I used a stud removal kit from my local motor spares to remove the sheared studs, one of which needed a pilot hole drilling with a Dremmel style drill to get the thing out.  New manifold was <£100 from the stealers.  Not too sure if this was available on trade club as I wasn’t part of the OOF gang at the time.

cheers guys, i got one from the dealer for £104, i got the gaskets as well just wondering if i need to use exhaust paste as well to seal it?

Just finished repairing and replacing mine ... see here:

My local tame welder ground out a groove along the crack and welded it up with nickel rods. He then put two bridge welds over the top of that to make sure it was airtight.

My mainfold was cracked and blowing because one of the studs had sheared. For me this meant taking the head off, but the engine had done 90k and it needed an overhaul anyway.

Changing the manifold was the easiest part of it but take care with those studs!!
