What would the upgrade on climate control solve pre facelift. Manual gearbox so dont need that doing.
No worthwhile updates for prefacelift climate panels, unless to have:

wrong one fitted (ie, estate instead of saloon)
very, very early software, with only 5 fan speeds.

Would it cure the sudden turbo-fan that kicks in making my eyelids flap and my eyes sting at 6am on my way to work?

Yep, if you're driving a facelift! Good description of how mine used to be when I 1st got it. Sorted now by TheBoy.

No, not a facelift, so I'm stuck with it then? I look daft at this time of year driving in the dark with my shades on  [smiley=cool.gif]

By the sounds of it my '99 pre facelift 2.5 Elite has already been done (it has a almost full main dealer history).

Is there any way of telling, ie a paperclip type test?
Only way is to plug in tech2 and see whats there, Afaik. There is no reason why a dealer would plug in tech2 for a service. Why do you think it has the latest software? Have you asked for a diagnostic? Even then they would not bother with the update most likely. You would have to ask for the update specifically and that would cause some head scratching. My 3.2 has full service history, not that its worth much, every out and bolt they touched was massively over tight. The Boy updated it on the first session. All as it left the factory until he worked his magic. Much better now.

I fear you over rate your dealer, although there are some good ones out there. Chances are though yours is still original version. Bit of a bugger your so far from civilisation.:-) Alton is the nearest to you i believe, as it stands?

The reason I think it may have been done is the car drives very nicely, much as the member who started this topic describes.
The Elite is a new car to me, it had been serviced by Vx main dealers in the Wirral and Shropshire up to 3k miles ago.
I will be having it serviced by an ex-Vx mechanic in Taunton.
I understand that there is going to maybe be a Tech-2 party in the southwest oneday.

By the way, the reasons for living so far from civilisation are many, the downsides are:

It is so quiet that my wifes breathing keeps me up.
I can't easily get my Miggy Tech-2'd

I'll stay in the sticks! ;) ;D

Same here, even on a windy night like this. Others (out of arm's reach) would call it snoring, of course... :-X

I couldn't possibly comment on the wife's snoring... She might read it! ::) ::)

Are you about this weekend Kevin? I'm down that way and could do with a quick tech2 session

Yes, by all means. Not up to anything AFAIK. What did you have in mind?

Clear any codes as i'm still getting 19 and there's no symptoms at all since I changed the sensor and upgrade gearbox and cc software.
