Two into six will go or will it?
« on: 16 November 2008, 12:58:47 »

been contemplating buying an MV6 and replacing the heart of the matter with an xev2ltr, now i know your all saying whattt is this guy on,but i can assure you when you have to pay road tax of over 1500 euro per anum, you too would consider the logic of such a quander. my main reasoning behind the idea is to upgrade to a more sumptious and of course leather clad expierience than that of my cd,
my main querie after you all stop laughing is it possible to transplant the xev into the mv6 and would the ecu be much of aproblem to hook up to,the mechanical aspect would not be a problem as i do all my own maintenance myself perhaps you could enlighten?

Hi

You would be far better off buying a 2.0 cdx model, some of them came with leather interior and nearly all the goodies that the elites had, the MV6 doesnt have as many toys as the elite so you wouldnt be gaining enough to warrant all the hassle. failing that most of the luxuries that you are looking for can be fitted to your car as most CD models have the full wiring harness in place.

cheers

ok vauxfan2k point taken, but my 98 cd is getting alittle old in the tooth with 182k and a lot of tlc i am looking to up grade to the newer shape,in fact the elite sounds right up my street but for the eng size,   on that note i have a spare car complete with 40k on the clock,as far as im concerned the 2ltr is more so a viable option, nyway back to ecu changeover would it be straight forward?after all vauxhall do a 2ltr  in the new shape, one assumes it should be fairly straight forward.

depends on the engine loom as there are older square plugs and also later oval sockets and a combination of both on some engines!

I would check the other implications out with the authorities first. Most isurance companies only work of manufacturers specifactions when grouping cars. So trying to insure a 2.0 elite or mv6 may prove tricky as it me be deemed as being a modified car. Also consider when you try selling it.
Not knocking your idea but it would be simpler get a smaller engined model with the spec you want.

Buya 3.0 elite and swap everything else over then sell the 3.0 CDX you end up with.

Swapping the engine will be a bigger job than the seats and toys
