Where can I get some good info for H+V problem

I recently bought a Y reg 2.2 CD Auto because it had LPG and it was cheap and I like the Omega shape/comfort. The LPG works but there are a load of problems that you can't see when you just want to buy something. There is no history or owners booklet. I bought a workshop CD from Ebay which is as much use as a chocolate teapot. Maybe one of them is genuinely useful?  The Haynes manual doesnt cover the car datewise unless someone tell me different so I didnt buy it. I really need a decent electrical drawing. (which I was looking for when I stumbled on this site)
Main thing I need to fix soon is the climate control, which doesnt heat or cool. Display lights, fan runs according to difference from set point but not much force of air at the outlets. havent had any heat since the "summer" when i didnt ask for it or need it. When the ignition is switched off you can hear a damper close/open. Slow water leak from some gadget down the righthand side of the engine so I keep topping up and am not discounting the possibility that at sometime the system ran empty and the heater is airlocked. But until I can get some info i am just guessing.

Does the climate display show -- when you switch the ignition off? The coolant leak is most probably the HBV (heater bypass valve) located at the rear under the scuttle cover. That can cause the heater not to blow any warm air.

Yours is mechanically similar to earlier ones, so haynes is useful.

However, it won't help with your current issue.

Firstly, are the pipes through baukhead getting hot?

Secondly, might be worth updating your profile with location ;)

... and drip hot water straight into your starter motor until you end up crawling round under the car on a friday evening trying to repair the ensuing damage.  Not that that I'm bitter about it... or still half covered in oil and muck.   ::)

widget on bulk head sounds like hbv, a common failure for coolent leaks. 35 sobs from vx dealer. (only ever in to the parts dept, stear clear of service) the cooling system on the v6 is self bleeding, i presume the 4pot is the same?

Haynes is worth haveing for torque settings and general procedures, its only really the body shape that changes.

I dont believe the -- symbol of the pre face lift cars
can be displayed on a face lift dash... (means ac error code/usually no gas due to holed condensor)

Thanks for replies.
Got a Haynes manual and had a go, although not really got much out the manual yet.
Found that the coolant leak was coming from a crappy t-piece which has been installed before the heater bypass valve. This feeds the LPG vapouriser. The bore of the Tee was only 8mm so got a better one 12mm bore, believe it or not from halfords, usually they dont keep useful things.
I also cleaned out the bypass valve. All looks ok here and reassembled, filled the coolant and warmed up.
Now I have seen the bypass valve I can see that it is spring held in the bypass position and needs vacuum on the diaphram to open it to the heater.
When I felt the bulkhead heater connections they were not hot, so I disconnected the vacuum tube and there was no sooking. Couldnt find much in the manual about the vacuum but there is a drawing for the ECC so once I find a magnifying glass I will follow the tags to see if there is a electrovacuum valve somewhere. I guess I'll find some pipe has become disconnected, squashed broken behind the facia

if you positioned the leaky hbv better then you could almost have a laying down shower  :y get on!

Some progress
Found a solenoid valve on LH of ECC unit. Took out glove box for access. (Quite easy as the last person here saved some time by not refitting any screws) Power to the solenoid but it wasn't opening. Bypassed the valve and this closed the HBP so I got some heat.  :)
Next I checked the other solenoid valve which operates the recirc flap. It too was knackered so it was bypassed to allow fresh air into the system.
Does anybody here sell these solenoid units or do I need to go to the rob-dogs?

Not out of the woods yet because the windscreen is misting down now. Not getting any force of air through the windscreen demister grille. When I press the demist button the fan goes to full speed but most of the air comes out a great gap at the back of the blower fan into the passenger footwell. I have a distinct feeling this shouldnt happen and that there is a bit of pipework/ damper missing. I will probably need a look at another vehicle to see whats what with this. Any thoughts ?
