Omega 2.5 TD power steering belt tentioner

can any one advise me off the possable cause of my power steering/alternator belt suddenly losing its tention.  what type of tentioner is it ? spring loaded or manually tightened. its very slack so slack the power steering is very jumpy.  was ok yesterday :-( .  just need a bit of helpful info from any one who has had same problem before i tackle the job at the weekend.

right, don't use it, as waterpump is aux belt driven.

Spring loader tensioner, so either the arms have snapped, or its seized.  Should be obvious once you've stripped enough to visually check.

check all pulleys are free, in case one seized, breaking tensioner.  worth checking vanes still in tact on waterpump as well....

they can seized on pivot point. depends how much damage is done in freeing off

Bet not cheap new, but no harm in asking. Might be worth trying beemer and Landrover dealers as well.  But 2nd hand may be more cost effective.

Sadly, the one in the garage is fubar, so no good to you ;D

SEEN THE TENSIONER GO OVER CENTRE COS OF WORN BELT ,
may be as simple as that!! it wasnt only the belt tho the tensioner itself had very worn nylon bushes too, !! :y
