varies car to car. i've yet to chip mine but people who have seem to get better figures. my old 1994td used to do 45ish on work run, its replacement 1998td only manages 33ish on same run. currently only getting 26ish but it is a bit poorly with engine light on  :-[

Around 47-50mpg+ when chipped (although again thats based on Tim's 94 TD)..not sure if thats just around town though, probably combination plus much better torque and acceleration but you need an AR35 gearbox or its bye bye AR25 in 30 seconds flat if you have an auto! :)

Got 2 decent AR35 gearboxes here if interested (£150 delivered to you next day)

Good stuff I *think* the manual box can cope (although cant see what the difference is as its still only 250Nm Torque max like the AR25) but I believe its ok with manual...although I also have an R28 3.0 box/clutch etc if anyone knows different! :)

Mine gives 33 mpg on average
The best I ever got on a long run was 36
This is by calculation not a MID

as MC says according to my display im getting 47.5,[how accurate?] ive never bothered to try & work it out as youve then got to question the accuracy of the fuel gauge!, either way ive noticed slightly better economy as well as much better performance so im happy :y :y

the tractor, esp auto, not brilliant mpg wise around town (non of omegas are). 1.7t takes a lot of energy to keep getting from 0 to 30

I reckon you should be looking at 32/34mpg around town driving, and over 42mpg easily on more longer motorway type journeys.
After having mine chipped I am going to do a proper check to see how accurate the MID display is, I don't think it's telling me an very accurate reading.
It's hard to believe I am doing 37mpg towing a 1460kg caravan with the beast, especially when I was only achieving around 26mpg pre chip. I think it's returning now more like 31mpg towing, which is excellent given the combination 3 tonne +

The MID tells what the engine ECU thinks its using, which should be reasonably accurate, seeing as ECU gets feedback from cylinder 4.

Running locally mine's in the mid-30's. That's pretty good, considering the tough terrain in the Valleys, plus a kerbweight of around 1.7 tonnes.
On long runs, it easily achieves the low 40's per gallon.

Since the lads here chipped it, she's positively 'singing' in the mid 80's.
Improvement in fuel economy too ... !

if my tractor is ever cured and not keep shining the eml at me then it will definately get chipped as it needs all the help it can get to make the x25td to run as smooth and economically as my old u25td
