Just given the tractor a fair thrashing on a near-200 mile motorway run.

Tank filled to the brim, then straight on to the motorway. Refilled to the brim after coming off the motorway, did the calculations - the tractor returned 33mpg.

Not bad really, considering it was positively cruising around the 75-80 mph mark for the whole journey.

There you have it chaps ..... !

I get similar mpg day to day (shitty stop/start commute), and, judging by the smell, I'm still pissing diesel out everywhere  :-/

I have been calculating MPG from my last 5 tanks of Tesco Homebrew and the worst I have achieved (30 mile a day commute, 28 miles of which is dual carriageway) is 34mpg.

On a 300 mile run down to the south coast and back last weekend I managed to get 47mpg, using almost bang on half a tank (although the latter part of the tank seems to go much faster!)

This is with a chipped, smoky TD with 180k on the clock.

Filled to the brim again, and ran it locally for a few days.

There is a vent pipe that may be suspect, also, some signs of a (histroic ?) leak on top of tank - needs a second opinion on that.

Not convinced about a couple of the (new) bleed off pipes either.

I get 34 normal . 34 cruising at 75-80. And 31 towing 1600kg boat preston to holyhead at 60, slower up the grades.
Never went over 96C new rad no viscous.

It use to go to 100 on grades, not towing.
