Brake pads - what works?
« on: 29 November 2008, 12:36:15 »

OK I have a Halfords, are their pads any good?

Forget VX they shut early >:( and I was less than 5 minutes and they were all still in there.

ABS card runs out as well so Monday is out of question

My Vx dealers are the same. I walk in and they just know me as Mr. Autobahnstormers now.

Wait till Monday; someone of your our age needs to learn patience. :P Don't fit Halfrauds parts even if you can get them.

Rears started rubbing last night :-[

Didn't help that a bl00dy AA van towing a Post Orifice van stopped at green lights for a chat - that cycle probably cost me >:(

The rear pads i tried from Half**** didnt last that long and were a pain to fit. So now I only use GM pads in the rear.
As for the front end I am using some slightly harder pads who's name escapes me and they have abit more stopping power when cold. ::)

I have done 25k on a set of Halfords Discs & Pads that i got on trade and fitted in Jan 07. Checked them last week and they are about a 1/5 of the way through their life!

Very impressed to be honest, although I don't usually expect much from Halfords brakes - had a pad break up on me on a Nova.  :(

I've got ferodo on the front of mine (fitted before I found OOF).  Seem fine to me, no probs with wear etc.

I've also had one of the original rear pads debond from the backing plate so it is not just aftermarket stuff that suffers this way

Halfrauds do Ferodo pads which are fine IME. The rears don't get as much punishment anyway. No idea what their own brand pads are like. :-/
