Well, good news that you made the grade. What a stupid way to go about hiring someone! I'd make damn sure you go to as many interviews as possible over the next 2 weeks, make sure the agency knows you're actively pushing for more interviews and not putting your life on hold while they waste 2 weeks. You never know, something better might come along.

It'd serve them right if you got snapped up by someone else in the meanwhile.  >:(

absolutely, it will show that you are in demand, if you do get offered something else as well it may put you in a better bargaining position in either job, plus its a confidence boost as well.....bit like having 2 women chasing after you :D

Late answer sorry..

My senses tell me the director is messing up things..In a company that size, employment procedures are generally well written and planned.Something wrong here I feel..The reason what he gives dont satisfy me..He has other things in the mind but not shared together other staff..

So be careful..Stay in touch and follow closely..

Hope you will get the job  :y

Sounds like a done-deal. They are just going through the motions for company policy.

That would be the ideal situation  :y

I had the pleasure of doing nearly the same a few years back.....

Went to work for a company as an IT contractor.....i knew the first week was a trial week......but was gobsmacked when the 1st week was up got told by the IT manager that ok weeks up......were taking on another IT contractor next week to compare, therefore you dont need to come in next week (which means unpaid for a contractor)......Agency rang me the following wednesday saying can you go back in immediately, they want you......I told the agency to stuff it  ;D
However agency kept phoning me back, so after insisting an increase in hourly rate and insisting i couldnt start back until the monday (even tho i didnt have anything on) I went back on the Monday.

But that gave me great pleasure in basically saying....."P1$$ me about and I'll do the same to you"  ;D :y

Could be a good basis do to the same (ie increase in salary....as you've been offered another job (small white lie maybe  ;) )
Depends how brave you feel and how much you want this job  :y

The other angle to this is that the agency will be hungry for their commission too. They will be just as eager as you to get the deal done now they've sniffed the possibility of a result so if you give them the impression that you're going hell for leather to get another offer they'll be pressing the company to pull their finger out or lose you.

Yes... the agency told me this! They basically told the company "If you think he's so good, why the heck are you going through the farce of more interviews, when you already have someone who fits the role!"

But never mind, time will tell. I still feel quite optomistic that I might get it.
