Hesitation Under Accelleration
« on: 11 December 2008, 13:09:09 »

Hi again folks,

Haven't got round to replacing the breather box on top of the engine yet (the 2nd outlet from the left, as viewed from the top, has broken off).

But I've noticed that when accellerating with my foot down to the floor in 2nd or 3rd gear (it's a 3.2 V6 with manual gearbox), there's some hesitation before it picks up.

Could the broken breather box be causing this?

It's feels as if the traction control is kicking in, but it isn't (no TC light on dashboard flashing, and it isn't quite as extreme as when the TC does kick in).

Any advice would be much appreciated folks  :y

Do pedal trick, listed here,

If its missfireing it will tell you which cylinder. Ill have a pound on plugs. But whatever it is pedal trick will confirm. Usually....

Just coming up with 0420, 0430 (pre-cat, as discussed the other day on another thread), and one to do with air-con relay open (could be due to me having the climate control on when I did the pedal trick?)

Maybe the dodgy tps you mentioned in that case,(edited, dont know where i got the tps bit from as just re read and you didnt mention it, thinking of another thread?)  on no experience of that myself, but have seen mention of 2 sensors one on throttle body and one on pedal. I beleive the live data can be observed  via tech2...?
Fuel and spark are heavily monitored on drive by wire migs so im sure a code would be present if there was an issue on that front.

Hope the tps weren't a Freudian slip haha!

It did it again today, when teaching one of the local chavs a lesson (lesson still tought though, although it must have looked like I couldn't use a clutch properly...  :-[ )

I can put it in 3rd gear at 15mph and floor it, and it won't do it.  But if I floor it in 1st, then in 2nd, the second I snatch 2nd gear when it's over 3k rpm it'll do it...  :-/

Which makes me ask the question - what happens if one was to disconnect all the breather hoses?  Would it run like a bag o' s**te like mine is doing with 1 hose disconnected, but on a bigger scale?
