Omega 2.2 CD alarm
« on: 17 December 2008, 16:16:58 »

Hi All,
My 2.2 CD Auto alarm (factory fit) has been playing up of late. It goes off randomly, and only settles down if i un-lock then re-lock the car a few times.
Now, the passenger side indicators are staying on (not flashing, just on all the time) when I lock or lock the car. If i lock/un lock about 7/8 times I can get it to go out.
Any advice? Or alternatively, how can i disconnect the alarm as funds are a bit short to get it fixed!
Thank all,
Jimbo

I had  a similar problem on my old 1997 Omega 2.0ltr - firstly i disconnected the horn by adding a switch into the wire from the control box behind the panel on drivers side footwell (this stopped me getting out of bed at 2 in the morning to reset the alarm from the bedroom window! )  and then later on the same symptoms as you have now with the indicators staying on permanent - would clear after a few lock/unlocks but eventually stayed on permanently  - this was caused by the alarm indicator relay failing - cured this by removing it - located behind the glovebox (had to remove glovebox to get at it)- i know this wasn't actually fixing the fault but it didn't cost anything  ;)

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if the alarm indicator relay is in the same place on the 2001 Omega?
Thanks,
Jim
