Changing sunroof glass?

My 02 2.6 CDX has a nasty corroded sunroof surround, the ally is rotting, I'm thinking of painting it, on the other hand would it be easier to just change it for a better one? Would one from a 96 elite fit? How much of a pain are they to change?

big pain to change all roof lining has to be removed not a nice job ! quite delicate as well !  :y

is it just me or are the face lift surrounds not as durable as the pre facelift jobs, mine and ians on here are both in worse nic than on our previous pre facelift cars. all blotchy and pitted. Looks naf, :(

Mine's a pre face lift and is a bit pitted/flakey.

Guess I will be painting it then, the haynes manual makes it sound easy, lol, just like the thermostat change

I changed the sunroof on my old Chavalier. Bit of a pain having to take out the entire roof lining but easy enough. hardest bit was trying to hold it up to get a couple of bolts on!
