Spark plugs....
« on: 27 December 2008, 20:50:21 »

Just wondering what sort of spark plugs are most popular for a mv6?
Not sure whats in it at the mo.
Due to fit a set of 10mm fuelcat ht leads.
I did have a set of iridiums in my old v6 sri vectra, but heard they're not the best for an omeag.
Is this right?
Or are there better ones out there??

Standard GM ones are adequate (twin or quad electrode depending on model year) and good value IMO. Not had the slightest grumble out of mine, even on LPG.

I have had the GM quad plugs in mine now for the last few years. Like you, I havev't had a peep out of thecar .... even though they are the 'wrong' plugs.  :y

Not a fan of the quads myself, rather fit the twins, and change them a bit more often :)

A spark plug either ignites the mixture or it doesn't. As long as it does that reliably a more expensive plug can only have a longer life. In a very highly tuned engine you might find yourself needing iridium plugs to get a reasonable life but it's a waste of money on an Omega, IMHO.

VX plugs are only a couple of quid each on TC and, being multiple electrode types, they have very long life.

Well, the 4 electrode GM plugs for the later V6s are basically rebadged Bosch Super 4's. They are a good bit cheaper too. :y
