Engine Management light + Exhaust
« on: 28 December 2008, 23:13:53 »

Looking at a car to buy however it has a "blowing exhaust" and the engine management light is perm. on. Would this light be caused by the dodgy exhaust or is it likely to be something else.

Is there anyway I can tell when I am at the car?

Do a quick check of the fault codes (paperclip or pedal trick) - if it relates to the Lambda sensor(s) or fuel trim, then probably yes..  Depends on the codes!

Why did I know you were going to say its a 2.2...?  You'll need a code reader for that, sadly.  Codes (I believe - await confirmation though cos i'm not sure) are the same as the DBW V6's - 2.6/3.2?
