Hi Guys

OK this one has been bugging me for a while now. Go to the car first thing in the morning, doesn't matter if the outsdie temp is + or - .

On cranking the engine has tries to fire, coughs, splutters then nothing. Stop cranking and try again and she fires up ok and for the rest of the day she will start on button.

Now i've changed and done all of the following

New Plugs
New Leads
New Dis Pack
Cam covers Gaskest have been done
Breather cleaned, fully the lid was taken off.
Plenium cleaned
all new gaskest
Now oil showing in the coolant and no coolant showing in the water

Any ideas guys

If you have oil in the coolant...oil cooler has packed up or is very much on its way to doing so...

Out of interest did you clean the entire breather system or just the breather box on top of the plenum?

no everything is clean and both oil and water are clear. What i done with the breather was to drill the centre spot weld out and remove the cover, cleaned the box out and drilled and tapped a 6mm hole and screwed/bonded the cover back on

oh its also had new ECU temp sensor and i'm getting no EML

Lazy fuel pump not holding pressure?  ICV sticking (i guess you might be able to prove that by starting it with a little throttle..)?

i purchased my miggy cheap earlier this year becuase it was being sold as having a cold start problem, basically you could go out side crank it over and would not fire and then after cranking a few times it would  fire and then run and also be fine the rest of the day,,,,,
i used it like this for a few months until it started doing it all the time and you could drive 1 mile switch it off and would not start again

i fitted a new crankshaft sensor and have not had a problem since  
have you tried the paperclip test to see if you have any fault codes

please bear in mind though that the crankshaft sensor does not allways show a fault, as some people have reported the paperclip test showed the fault and some also have said the paperclip test did not
on my miggy it did not show a fault not even while connected to tech 2 at the stealers but was the problem

Shanjon has a good point...its a crank problem so crankshaft sensor would indeed sound like a possible culprit...

Need to clean out more than just the airbox for the breather system, the pipes that run out of the back of it get blocked up at the other end...the bits they plug into...especially the thinner 2 pipes...

Andy ...... You should be leading us in the diagnosis of Vauxhall faults!!! Fulll dealer facilities and all .......

Lol....

Two possibles,

1) A tired crank sensor (probably a code 19 stored)

2) Leaking injectors

To test number 2, crank the engine for a few seconds with the throttle floored and then try starting normaly

All sorted, crank sensor. I sapped out a good one of my spare engine. Fitted it this morning and the engine hadn't been run for a couple of days and she fired up on the button.

Also seems to rev alot stronger and idles better but there were no codes stored and no EML, oh well every day is a school day.
