hids like this ___/\___ after repair.
« on: 23 December 2008, 19:15:13 »

and i cant see jack s.
I think with the delay with the hid motor they threw it back together a bit quick and left it on left hand drive/continental driveing/the opposite of uk on the passengers side, which is the one they repaired.

How do you change the light from left to right hand drive? I know how to do it on my  old cars normal lights but these are hids on this car and and the back of the light is all sealed in.

I hope its not a left hand drive head light. No cant be it must be uk as it was done through insurance and direct line only allow genuine parts except bodywork (the wing is pattern:-()

There's a lever under the headlight cover. Page 121 in the manual.
left hand should be up; right hand should be down

If you have a beam pattern as you say the it appears that you've a LHD lamp. The levers that NickA mentions will NOT convert your RHD beam into a LHD beam pattern, all they do is cut off the upsweep to our left hand side ie the kerb. When you opperate the levers all you do is convert \____   \____ into ____   ____ so you don't blind our continental bretheren but can see where you're going.  ;)  ;)  ;)

Andy, i was afraid of that.

Nick, yes have read page 121 and i am probabley being thick, but i dont see the cover mentioned on the back of hid light due the bloody great hid pack in its place which would appear to be screwed in.

To be fair ive done little more than shine a torch at it and decide to have a proper look in daylight tomorrow when i may have to take the battery out to get at it, as the repairers have done, the triangular fuse box was out of its slot.

To get to the adjuster for the HID element, you take off the cover for the mainbeam light, circular rubber thing, no screws just a push on/pull off fit, damned tricky on the battery side .. :( and move the little silver lever .. GENTLY up or down .. do NOT try and force it or you'll break the adjuster, they are pretty brittle.

You go in through the main beam light as the lever adjusts the dipped beam lens/light, so it needs a bit of "reach" if you get my meaning .. :)

but I agree with Andy .. looks all wrong to me ... :(

Judging by the beam pattern I would say they've fitted a LHD headlamp........  :(

Just a bit of feedback, its not a GM headlight, its made in taiwan, no sign of  hella printed on it. Not bloody happy about that at all. But thats for the repairer when they re open after xmas, and to be honest i was just delighted to get it back before the xmas break.
Anyway, no lever to be seen behind the high beam cover like you all kindly advised. There is a lever on the other original headlight as described. Basically took out battery, cover off, no sign. Right, head light out, which revealed a sticker, impossible to see under the top chassie member, showing it behind the hid bulb!!! How the hell are you supposed to change that on the ferry on the way to europe, well, you cant, is the easy answer. Load of crap and rest assured its going back. Not up to speck.

But the beam is changed and, although now too low, it is now correct and will adjust when i get round to it. I am guessing the copy stuff is made for all markets as opposed to left and right hand drive. The beam swaps quite well and has
a clear "___/" on both settings. But thats where the good news ends as the hid light cover does not fit and does not give a weather proof seal. Nfg!

Apart from all that, i am so pleased to have the car back. Really appreciate what youve got when its not there, as they say.

Cheers, and a merry Christmas to you all. :-)
