Want to see 6000bhp in action?
« on: 10 November 2007, 18:48:55 »

FOund these by accident - got to You tube and search for 55022 50049

Watch a few and listen to the two best Diesel locos working hard.

The front one is noisier at speed and the one behind at lower speeds

Hearing 2 supercharged D18s and a turbointercooled 64v V16 working hard is something else.

The two on the video

the 3300bhp one has two D18-25 Napier Deltics of 1650bhp each, the 2700bhp one has an English Electric V16CSVT

Or you could go to a drag race in the states.  ::)

No, not that type of drag you twisties!  :o ;D

The sound from 12-15 Kilo Mr Ed's (2 cars) physically knocks you back.  :y

Then go to a tractor pull.  Anything from Allison V12's to 4 or more blown big-blocks, yes on one tractor!  And yes, there are turbo Diesels too.

BTW both of those locos when in BR service had less efficient silencing, the front ones were at least twice as loud!

Allison aero engines - for wimps, you need Merlins and Griffons :y

Sorry, you're right, I meant Merlins.  Went to one in August, but the Merlin wouldn't run.   :(
