plasma vs lcd

hi all im thinking of getting a 50" plasma but should i consider an lcd what are the pros and cons, i quite like the samsung with its glossy black finish the strange thing is it will cost me a fair bit more than my car did. i must be getting old...any advice welcome....

Never been a fan of plasmas. Too much to go wrong, which probably explains the low mtbf

It used to be you had to have plasma for large size, not so now.  Plasmas used to be able to do better blacks, but less so now with current lcds

i know with the new lcds you get better blacks but any time i go and look the picture looks better on the plasmas and i think the angle of view is bigger which i think i would need,

I doubt you will have problems with viewing angles.

remember, the tv sections in currys etc is not the same as your house. Try to view some in friends/family homes?

Don't by 1 that's to big for the room.

If its to big for you wont get the true picture quality.

I have  42'' have had it almost 4 year now, never had any problems with it, the viewing angles are fine don't have any issues if you sit at the side of the TV you don't lose any picture or does'nt darken. :y, However, i had one before the current one and I had a major problem with it ::)
