Don`t think you would get a major leak from the crank sensor :o :o

Halfords sell plenty of degreasers.

Think B&Q also do

If you look at the crank sensor...

1) Its a flat plastic surface
2) It mounts onto a machined metal surface on the block
3) It has a large tubular body which fits into a machined metal hole in the block
4) It has an O ring.
5) The part of the block it penetrates is not sat in an oil bath and at most will have some oil mist round it and maybe a little bit of splash off the crank

The most I can see is if the O ring was perished you might get a very slight weep.....and it would be slight!

The most likely cause is leaking cam cover gaskets due to blocked breathers!

i know its not leaking cam covers as they was done along with cleaning breathers out and also the oil leak is not coming from the top is lower down as the exhaust heatshield is not covered in oil

any other ideas? as i said imhoping the mechanics right but then again he might have just looked saw a slight leak and said there we go thank you very much as i did suggest to him it was the oil cooler pipe that runs from the filter up to the oil cooler just because of the amount of oil that it lost

When were the cam covers done?

If recently could be residual oil from that leak..

If a while ago, could be leaking again if job not done properly.

if you were stupid i suppose you could disconnect the battery then lob a load of petrol over it and then let it evaportate while trying to get all the grease and gunk off with something or repeat a couple of times in gunked up areas with a scraping device to hand
