Interesting anwsers......however....Mr Golfbuddy in answer to your solution....1 adult + 4 kids....would you let a stranger take 2 or 3 of your kids without you??  :-/
Happens pretty often round salford, the council send a taxi to take em to school otherwise they don't go.

You're dead right Cap'n. We have two taxis every day to take the two foster kids to school. I guess you all have to be CRB checked these days don't you?

Very true.....ive been CRB vetted......but Mr or Mrs Joe Public doesnt know that...

So, here's the solution. You take the first three children and the adult, leaving the remainder with a guardian, to the destination and leave the children there with a responsible and trusted adult. You then take the adult back to the remaining children and transport them to the original destination. Problem solved.

I knew the riddle of the fox the chicken and the dog would come in handy one day.  ;D ;D ;D

They came out of the Nags head......whos gonna be the guardian....SMTO? .... ;D

Being CRB and CTC checked this is what i would have done.
1 Inform the adult of the situation.
2 This is how much it will cost.
3 Do they want another cab.
4 Is there someone at home.

The adult can take your details while you drop the 2 oldest children home.
Then the adult can stay with the 2 youngest, if they dont want another cab.

If all else fails, you will need to disappoint them as you could lose you living.

even if you offer 2 trips, it might still put them off and you'd still have lost out, did they not specify when calling that there would be 5 passengers?

you should charge a callout fee if they refuse to travel "legally" ;D

i voted "point out to the adult that they arent insured" but shouldnt it be "point out that YOU arent insured"?

What would have happened to you if you had been stopped by the police, or if you should have had an accident.

Two trips, or call either an extra, or a larger vehicle. Idiots, they are.

Being on your own with the children is too much of a risk to be honest.

I would go with the two trips option if there was a responsible and trusted adult at the other end of course.

Well.....some interesting points/comments there  :y

However what happened was.......

I refused to carry them....and offered to get them a 5 seater out.
However the adult declined (probably coz the £15 fare will rise to about £20-£25 for a 5 seater to do the job)

I drove off and left them there.

I will now guess what happened next......

The adult carnt call my firm and order another 4 seater.......coz I will get the job sent back down again, and refuse again  ( remember im out in the sticks and the chance of another car in the same area will be very slim)
So the adult will call another firm.......and hope that driver will take them.

Thats my guess.

I have had this happen several times before......one or two adults with 3 or 4 kids and Ive refused to carry every time before.

What gets me.......not the fact I would be in trouble if stopped by police or local council (local council have the powers to stop my vehicle if they so wish, without police present)
Its the fact the parents KNOW im not insured (or them for that matter) and are still willing to gamble their kids future for the sake of a few extra quid. (For example......what would happen if I had an accident and the one or more kids was hurt quite badly......they certainly wouldnt be getting any compensation from my insurance company)

Im amazed sometimes at parents attitudes to their childrens lives sometimes  >:(

I know what you mean.  I drive Scout minibuses for my own group and other groups as well.  I turn up to collect the children (an adults) and I have never had a parent ask me about what sort of driver I am, the maintenance of the vehicle etc.  Mind you, I always wear a shirt and tie and trousers (not jeans) which I suppose goes some way.

But yes, parent's attitude does amaze me.
