Noticed last few days in the cold mornings, get a small amount of belt squeal on MV6 when just pulling away.

With the cold mornings, cabin fans on full, seat heaters on, HRW on, lights on.

With a sprung tensioner, I obviously can't adjust the belt.  Try a new belt and see if that cures it?

I had that with a new slightly-too-short Autovaux belt a while ago, but it sounds like yours has been on a while..

Maybe worth greasing the pulley bearings for starters?

Could be that the spring tensioner has lost some of its spring

had an e39 beemer the other day, spring tensioner had all but stuck. Backed the tensioner off with a spanner and stayed put, didnt spring back at all, so worth a check, also is it possible one of the the auxillarys is holding back? May be worth checking all the associated pulleys are spinning free or are as they should be. If the tensioner baring is greased then i guess only leaves the belt itself. How old is it?

Most likely to be an old belt thats gone hard and shiney....

as per marks dtm really jaimie, the aux belt on my yaris went hard and shiney was ok when it was nice and damp (from rain) to stop it squeeking as it squeeked a little bit just ticking over... anyway i didnt change it because i couldnt be arsed and i wrote it off so didnt matter lol... (oops)

sounds like the belt is worn/slacking, thus when alternator under load, draging the belt,
if the tensioner was at fault i would expect it to squal at idle under any condition

theres quite a few things running off the aux belt so it could be quite a few other things besides the alternator lol...
a/c compressor depending if jaimie has it or not, pas pump, water pump, the tensioner, and even the idler if it was siezing up

if you want jaimie i have a never used but fitted halfrauds belt that you can have for a tenner with postage included

Sounds like alternator overload, or certainly more output requested than the belt can cope with.  I'd change the belt first and see what happens.  If persists, change the tensioner.

tbh i'd bite the bullet and get another belt, they're not expensive unless you insist on getting from Vx but even then they're not toooo bad i suppose
if i doesnt cure it and it turns out to be the tensioner then you'll have a fresh aux belt to be going on with so wont have to worry about it snapping leaving you stuck or limping home before buying a new one

I have been trying to recall if we changed the belt when I did the camblet....about 3-4 years ago!

I seem to recall we didn't....so it could be the original!

lol... i think you'd have got enough milage out of the aux belt by now if thats the case
