Petrol prices crazy - LPG kit purchased !
« on: 10 November 2007, 09:30:21 »

Cheapest I can get fuel is 103.9 nearby to me now, it's absolutely stupid and I refuse to pay it anymore.

I have now bought the LPG kit (link below). I will have it fully fitted and working within two weeks. I am not messing around, I will not be filling up at the petrol pumps again!!

Markie and I anticipate two days (weekend after next maybe?) to get it complete, over a weekend. Given the short days.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330186527772&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=014

I rekon getting this now for £500 is a good move - LPG kits are set to go up in price with the way fuel prices are going.

I'll obviously post updates on progress, I'll be in particular linking in with Kevin and JayW to compare ideas, especially as Jay and I have the identical kit, and Kevin is strongly considering getting it too. I'll also be liaising with Martin, and will ask him kindly to inspect our work, and give his input for improvements etc.

Even if it's finished by the LPG party, I will still attend to help out etc.

Updates to follow :y

Looks good. With that kit you've bought, do you have to get any other stuff to finish the job? In other words, tank 'n' pipes etc.

So, remind us what the cost is, relative to petrol, when you take into account the lower efficiency.

Last month i used 725L of LPG......so if you knock off, say 20% for lower efficiency.....its not gonna be anymore than 20%, that might be on the high side.

That leaves 580L.........petrol @ £1ppl £580.......so a saving of about £272.

However I would never run a petrol Omega as a Taxi.......so if I had a diesel 'something' I probably save about £100/month compared to diesel

Sequential gas, which is well tuned to the car's engine management, will not have much lower efficiency. I will still expect about 25mpg on gas, which is equal to over 55mpg on petrol...cost wise..

I already have tank fitted - and the kit comes with pipes.

But I'm using polyflex...

I am not surprised you bit the bullet and bought the gas system james. 1.03p a litre is just stupid and i think it will still go up more.

More and more people will be going over to gas if the price of gas does not go stupid
