Headlight removal-Facelift
« on: 22 January 2009, 17:41:59 »

I wish to renew my front sidelight bulbs for LED ones, but I cannot find the "hidden" 8mm screw under the headlight as mentioned in the Maintenance guides section. Having undone the 2 x 8mm screws on top of the headlight, it moves forward about an inch, but seems to be held by something on the wing. Any solutions, please.

Cheers,

As Iain says .... it's possible to change side lights without bumper removal. I managed it even with my big hands. Just don't drop the lamp iside the headlight ....... it's a bugger to get out again! :(  :y  :y

As I mentioned in my post, I have read this. The headlight moves forward about an inch but seems to be held by something near the front wings.

I've had mine out to put LED bulbs in & there are  only the three screws as mentioned, mine came out ok but they are a tight fit where they meet the wing edge.

you need to remove the inch ish wide plastic trim under the light to bumper. Look on the inboard end you will see a fixing, mine was a screw but it was bodged by a repairer, the rest is a push fit with 2 long flat lugs that push out from the back, you can get your arm in and push it out from the back.

Then you can see the bottom head light screw through the gap. I used a quarter inch drive screw driver socket with 2 extensions to remove. Then tape the screw to the socket to re install.

So as you see, its probably easier to fit with the headlight in place. See how you go.

John

You can change the side light bulbs without removing the headlights.
