EML light when wet
« on: 24 January 2009, 10:12:24 »

Recently my eml has been intermittently flashing on/off when driving in wet weather.I paperclipped it this morning and got codes 31/89/91.
Did 30 engine starts and did the test again.codes89/91 had gone but 31 still there.this apparently is a crank sensor code, which is a bit of a surprise as I was getting code 19 about 6 months ago so replaced the sensor with a new genuine item. Is the sensor likely to be furbared already or can damp conditions upset them?   :-/
The wiring is routed well away from the exhaust btw.

31 is normal if engine not running, inconclusive if engine won't start (which yours does), so nought wrong.

Try test angain with engine running if you want ;)

The (now disappeared) other codes are lamda passenger side.  Check for poor connections and/or poor insulation

Definetely not the TC light.just cruising along at steady speed, not accelerating.TC light was on/off plenty on the way to work this morning but that was due to ice on the roads. :y

Drove to work in the rain this morning,EML on most of the time.
when I got to work, paperclipped it and got code 19.
Cant believe the crank sensor is on the way out already, checked my reciepts and the sensor is 1 year old.thing is it doesnt happen when its dry. :-/ :-/
