Anyone Up for helping me out? (Milton Keynes)
« on: 27 January 2009, 21:12:52 »

Looking to change engine on car currently have a crashed (my fault body dmg only) 2.0 omega saloon with a good engine and a decent estate with a broken engine (bottom end gone, no power sounds bad and judders 2/3 times a sec) so would like to swap them over.

Dont have the money to buy another car or pay a garage (600+Vat) so want to DIY it but most ever done is change discs/pads.

I have some tools (screw drivers and a 120 piece prof socket set with torx stuff with it) and can rent a crane however no real knowledge how to do it!

So I would like someone to help (or sort of do it really :()

Willing to pay any travel money and pay some money for your time however I'll be honest we are pretty skint.

Located just outside Milton Keynes (Jct 14/13 M1). Any help would be great!!

If its an auto, I'd recommend taking the gearbox out with the engine - trying to realign the engine onto an autobox attached to the car is a right bastard.

Not a hard job - this was a straight 6 diesel, which is longer than your engine...

This was done by LFF64 and myself, and we started around 11ish, and finished around 8ish

So with your short complement of cylinders it'll be even easier!! ;) ;) ;)

I'd love to help but I'm a bit far away and busy at the moment ::) ::) ::)

I work in Bletchley, but time is definately against me at the moment :(

Basically, take your time, disconnect everything, and lift it out.

In Hayne's famous words, reassembly is the reverse (though far more fiddly!)

Wasn't hinting at you Jaime... Just that I'm starting my run of weekend shifts this week so wouldn't be available over the weekend for about 5 weeks :( :( :(

Have you got a garage to work in or is it all too be done on a driveway?
