I have an early '97 Omega with the Hella type lights which are crap at night and have gone all misty and are impervious to cleaning, would it be possible to upgrade these to the slightly later clear lensed headlights which have the projector beam unit in them? Any help would be great thanks muchly..

yes they are a straight fit, connetion is the same, but the main beam bulbs are different to your old lights.

make sure they are the projector type and not the HID kind (physically look the same from the outside)

also if buying off ebay, ask for them to be well packed as the adjusters break easy in the post.

Been done lots of times .... have a search through the forums for details  

The projector lights come in 2 variaties... non-HID and HID ... to fit HID legally requires a headlight wash system and a levelling system

IMHO your best option would prabably be non-HID with some high brightness bulbs ..

For the lights  check the guys in the spares section who are always breaking miggies ..

got new lights yesterday, slapped them straight in, they are a straight swap for the earlier ones, and with the uprated (80/100w) bulbs its like driving in daylight, cheers to all that posted..Pete

I think you'll find that:
1) Anything above 55W is illegal on the roads
2) The increased current drawn by higher wattage bulbs may cause the wiring or fuses to fail

Thanks for the info, Im an electrical engineer by trade so Ive rigged the lights up as they should be, as for the legal requirements of bulb wattage I'd neeeeever really put 80/100's in .... that would be wrong.
