Hi all this is my first proper post here! I have a 95 omege 2.5TD and just replaced the wishbones as they were shot. They were done properly and have been checked since. Any way since fitting I now get a noise from either side when I hit a bump or man hole cover on that particular side. It sounds like a dinner plate clanking or like hitting a loose man hole cover. I have checked all the lower bushes anti roll bar etc.. but can not locate the noise. Really starting to get annoyed!

Also annoying is I started changing the standard CDX interior for leather and can not get the front seat Torx screws undone so am driving my car with full leather in the rear and standard seats in the front! But I still love the car though!

Could be but they were checked when the wishbones were done. Guess it is one of those annoying un obvious problems that you solve by replacing each part until cured

Will give it a go at the weekend! any Ideas how to get the seat bolts undone without destroying the torx heads?  :question

If you can get them out, however done (either by drilling or grinding, whatever...) you can still replace with new, surely?

I suppose so, just like to do things properly there is always the chance of messing up the thread when drilling them out. The bolts have thread lock put on when originally installed so I will try heating the bolts up first to melt the thread lock. there is not much in the way of space to work on these bolts as they are down inside the channels the seats run on. Eventualy I will get fed up and get the cold chisel out and whack them!

Drop links....you cant check them when fitted to the car !

Plus sub 20 quid a pair!

Could well be drop links, but the description sounds to metalic to me. First time i did my wishbones i managed to drop a nut or a socket, cant remember which, INSIDE the sub frame!  It was a right bugger to get out. We traced its precise position by belting the subframe with a hammer to make the item rattle then a magnet on a stick or something probably.

 Anyway, i wonder if your fitter has lost anything during fitting?...maybe?

When I changed the seats on the old miggy I found these bolts very tight ... raising the seat to max height and fully back enabled me to get an impact driver on at a slight angle ... couple of hefty wacks on that and they started to turn .. then seat fully forward to attack the back ones.. they came lose with justa bar .. good job as I don't think there was room for the impact driver there !!

I was assisting my mate who is a mechanic and we didn't loose any nuts or tools and the noise comes from both sides indapendantly when one or the other hit a bump its like a clanking noise not a knock like clanking two bits of metal together.

Raising the seat is a good idear cheers for that! I bought a new set of torx bits today so will give them a try at the weekend and may purchase an impact driver as well!

Yes, the two bits of metal ref sounds like something metal rattling around in the subframe when you hit a bump, and as its only been there since fitting the wishbones i doubt,haveing re read your post, that drop links would both suddenly wear "over night" on both sides. Anyway if nothings missing probably not that...

Agreed droplinks!  Cheap and easy to replace & no more knocking on rough roads or over bumps!
