Stainless Steel Exhust part 2
« on: 27 January 2009, 20:43:14 »

Having had a Stainless steel backbox fitted back in August last year as the one on was past its best. Today went to a place in Birmingham called Tip Top to have the rest done now that i had the funds.

http://www.tiptopperformance.co.uk/#/homepage/4531821774

They have done a great job  fitted it in around 2 1/2 hours and used T304 steel from the cats back to the backbox. They also moved the the 2nd set of pre cat 02 sensors back to after the main cats. The cost was £250 and looks and sound good  ;) ;).

The sound when driving is about the same as befor which is what i was looking for. When you come out the sound is a nice low down note . And over 4k its got a very nice growl. The system has help as it seem to rev quicker and easier, also the MPG seem better on a run that last time gave me 28mpg now i have 31mpg and that was with a few sport mode runs.

All in all very happy and would highly recommend them to anyone. :y :y.

Also so far no emmision light  :D :D

Has been on mine for some time but just had lots of other things to do on it. Happy that it is now done and out the way. Had a look at the old ones and they where rusting but not bad for a 7 year old system .....The older GM system where very good and hard to better.

So that 250 was essentially for the two centre sections then?  I guess 350-400 for a full system then - do you know?

Had a sports set up which was  larger bore system with a sports center box  about the size of both the old ones. Checked with him and told aboud £350 for normal set up.  The price i payed also inc the moving of the 02 sensors . Will try to get some pics at the weekend to show the set up.

Hi guys
My father runs a 1998 2.5 v6 estate, he had a full stainless steel exhaust fitted by a company called long life systems from the down pipes back, yes two sports cats, no middle boxs straight through to a sports back box and then to a twin tailpipe piece which is full chrome and looks like irmuscher, you can choose out of i think 30 of this tail pieces.
This gives a lovely rumble like a v8, but its not noisey under full throttle, just purrs!, price 485 i think the same price as a full system from our friends vauxhall but fully protected for life and transferable to new owner once inspect, i to have the same car and his is alot quicker then mine and returns better fuel returns   i can dream.   :(

woo, 2 into 1. Did assume 2 sections through out...interesting to see if that effects power and economy...
...and also that they would put the 02 bosses in the new section, dont know why i thought that tho.

Power seems up the car seems to pull a lot harder up the revs befor having to change up. MPG seems up to on a hard run back from Cov to Leicester had 30mpg  and on the run there at 70 mph had 34MPG.

so seem up by a few MPG .

Has a nice note to it also a kind of deep note to it. :y

Best bit is not having that light on  ;D ;D

Which sudgests the old one was pretty knackered rather than the new one being better than standard!

The exhaust setup on the Omega is not the limiting factor once you are past the manifolds!
