Front Passenger Door Locked Shut!
« on: 29 January 2009, 21:48:38 »

I unlocked the car as usual to go out, but my missus had the front passenger door handle up.  All the rest of the doors unlocked except the front passenger door.  Now it's locked shut & it looks like the pin comes up & goes straight back down again :(

Any ideas?  I have seen a thread about door locking & looking at the lock motor, but need to get the door open first to that I presume!

Thanx in advance for any advice

Get your timing right and grab the lock plunger as it comes up and pull.

Try locking and unlocking the door from inside with the driverside lock plunger.

The one that gets me is, I will pull up on the drive and get out of the car usaually in the pooring rain and the wife is still sat in the car slowly picking her handbag up and her umberella and other assorted items.  >:(

The worst one i've had was a woman trying to get in the back door of my Land Rover. Instead of lifting up the handle like a normal person she tried lifting up the rear number plate light surround and snapped it off  to a sound of "oohh woops" >:(

Forcing the seat belt buckle into the 'receiver' on the pi$$ in my Senator my Mum broke it! Wasn't her fault .... apparently! :-? So when I bought a new one I thought that, as the driver's gets most use, I'd fit the new one to my side & put the old one on the passenger side. The following week, doing exactly what she's done the week before, she broke that one too!!!!! That wasn't her fault either!!!!  :o  :o  :o  :o

UPDATE on Problem!!!!!

I tried to unlock the door early this morning on the way to work & still wouldn't have it.

However, mid morning I tried again, this time standing by the passenger door frowning sternly at it & hey presto - it opened!!!!

Have tried a couple of times subsequently, and it's fine.  must be because it's the wifes side of the car......temperamental!!!!  (Emphasis on the mental!)  ::)

Hi, I had a very similar problem, if you see my post from Sunday afternoon it explains how to get your door open without damaging the door card.

Ever considered waiting 'til she's finished ?  ::)
(Impatiently tapping the dashboard and huffing may not be a good idea tho').
