Cambelt kit for Z22XE (2.2 petrol)
« on: 03 February 2009, 16:24:48 »

Hello Everyone,
Just looking for a bit of advice. Where do you think would be the best place to get a cambelt kit for the Z22XE engine? Vauxhall themselves?

I understand that it is recommended that the water pump is changed at the same time. I do see there is a cambelt dvd to help, but I'm only 19 and this is my first car so I have no technical knowledge or ability to do any vehicle related work apart from the simple jobs.
Vehicle is 2002 Omega 2.2 CDX manual
It's only covered 33,000 miles. The cambelt was last changed at 8415 miles on the 30/08/05. How soon should I look at having it done?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you have documentary evidence of the cambelt AND tensioners being done @8k then it`s due again @ 48k or every 4 years irrespective of whether the car covers 40k in 4 years :y

Or by the end of August this year, 40k or 4 years whichever comes first.

Genuine Vx or Gates kit.

Water pump must be changed at the same time.

Re-fill rad with genuine Vx anti-freeze 50/50 mix.

If you contact JamesV6CDX on here, he may do it for you for a smallish fee.

My mates garage used another kit on mine.....not sure of the make,
but he uses them because he gets them direct, and the maker garauntees the full kit for the lifetime of the kit according to the service guide
So it is garaunteed for 40k/4 years.i asked him what happens should it snap?he says the company pays him to repair any damage caused by belt or kit failure
He uses this make for all his timing belt jobs

Thanks for all the replies, by the looks of things I'll wait until the end of August to get it done then. Thanks again all.

Is he still doing these ??  He's just advertised his V6 locking kit (I know this is  a 2.2  not a V6) saying he'll not be needing it again !!!   :-/ :-/ :-/

I noticed this too, I had emailed and pm'ed him but unfortunately no response. But not to worry. Was looking at him to do this cambelt for me and a full service.
