Fault codes on my 96 3.0 Elite.
« on: 11 February 2009, 11:48:58 »

Started the car to go to work this morning, scraped the ice of SWMBO's van then my car. Put the scraper back in the house and cough splutter my car cuts out. As it was 6am, still dark and not wanting to be late I called a taxi and went to work.

Just got back and read the codes and I got:-

12 Normal
144 Immobiliser No Signal
31 No RPM (wasn't running obviously)

So is my immobiliser goosed?

most likely it's your crankshaft sensor...i am 90% certain, cause that's the #1 causes since it says NO RPM SIGNAL.

OK daft thought as I've just tried it again and it sort of fired then died again.... I'm parked half on the kurb (drivers side is high) and the fuel gauge reads bottom of the red but I know there's a good tenners worth in there. could I have tipped it enough to pull the fuel pump out of the fuel?

Well I rolled down the road a bit so the car was closer to level, tried to fire then 2nd go fired up! Running sweet as a nut now  :o I'll go put some fuel in on my way back to work.

Going to redo the paperclip test with it running later as I'm still baffled by the 144!!

Well glad you have it running again without any problems.

The codes take a while to clear with no repeat faults, so you will have to wait a while to be certain.
