fault codes help please

just done paperclip test on mine after breaking down last nite and im getting codes
73 maf voltage
72 ????
31 no rpm signal

was expecting crank sensor but no ! just cut out coming up to a roundabout and would not go again any ideas on the 72 code  :(

72 Amplifier (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) control signal (A+B) Lead interruption, open circuit  :-?

Totally failing crank sensor Mark......as opposed to one with a crap signal.

Normaly a bit intermittent as its often due to a wire break

right then just fitted brand new gen vx crank sensor and brand new vx battery still no go ???? could it be dispac ?? :( :( :'(

72 is not a Motronic code.

Try disconnecting the MAF as a little test

no but when towing home i jumped it off and it started but as soon as you take foot of pedal it dies deffo no vac leaks

If it will run as described it does sudgest a possible vac leak or a sticking idle valve.

When it ran, was it lumpy or nice and smooth?

Sorry, my mistake Code 72 relating to DIS is for the GM Multec ECU but I`m pretty sure on the Motronic 2.8.1 72 is the throttle switch not running on full load
