Misfire
« on: 16 February 2009, 07:43:19 »

Has anyone got any idea or knows what the fault is with my 2.5V 1996 Omega.
The symptoms are a misfire I took it to a local garage to have them run a diagnostic check on the car and to MoT it. I believe they used a Snap on engine analyser which gave a Fault code 19 which they informed me was incorrect RPM signal. It passed every thing apart from the emissions test. I have ordered a new Dis pack which I’ll fit as soon as it comes.

Dont bother with dispack...fix the problem first...code 19 is crank shaft sensor...use genuine Vaux one and route away from exhaust or oil pipes as much as possible  :y

Incidentally to save yourself the cost of a garage to get codes do the paperclip test...its free and easy to do yourself...

Faulty crank sensor can also cause misfires...code 19 is crank sensor failure and will need doing regardless...

Misfire might be plugs leads or dispack but...fix the urgent issue first and see where you are then...
