Wheels - mainly - and ex-police
« on: 18 February 2009, 15:14:25 »

Don't know what happened there but my message got posted before I'd written it - so here we go again!

I'm a newbie looking for an Elite 3.2 estate.
Can members please let me have their thoughts on the advantages and or otherwise of buying an ex-police model.
Also, what advantages would 17in wheels give?  I'm concerned that they would make the ride harder without providing that much extra handling ability.
I've had experience of this on a BMW where the standard wheels gave a much more comfortable and quieter ride.

Thanks for your help and I look forwrd to getting to know you all - or some of you anyway!

With the price of regular civvy Elites being as low as they are, there's IMHO no advantage to getting an ex-plod. And by the time you've filled the holes and the dents, you could have been sitting in a leather'd, toy'd, wonderland.

Only thing you might get on an ex plod is LSD...but why bother as it also might not...as said get a civilian 3.2 and if you want LSD buy one and stick it on!

I went for ex-plod for the manual box mainly. Very entertaining drive, powerful engine, RWD, manual box....

I can't get on with autos. Stiffer ride in ex-plod too which i prefer. Interior on mine was mint. The back had never been sat in and it still has that new car smell!
