Help With Live Data Results
« on: 22 February 2009, 11:13:55 »

Ok here are my results to try and fix my constant P0170 lean exhaust code after about a 10 mile run.

Coolant Temp 85c - 97c throughout test.

@ idle

Mass Air   0.51 - 0.73 V    10 kg/h
Intake Air Temp  28c
EGR Position Feedback  0.80 V
O2 sensor Bank 1   745 - 862 mV Lean
O2 sensor Bank 2   647 - 804 mV Rich
O2 Loop Open
Short Term Fuel Trim   0%
Battery  13.1 V

@ 2500 rpm

Mass Air   1.61 - 1.69 V    31 kg/h
Intake Air Temp  32c
EGR Position Feedback  1.04 - 1.06 V
O2 sensor Bank 1   39 - 59 mV Lean
O2 sensor Bank 2   98 mV Lean
O2 Loop Open
Short Term Fuel Trim   0%
Battery  13.2 V

Couldnt find anything for long term fuel trim

No MIL on but code stored P0170-(02) Lean Exhaust Present

Can someone with a known good MAF or O2 sensors compare results ?

Please help as this is driving me mental  :D :D  :y

Can you get a graph of the o2 sensors, as a point in time reading isn't that useful I'm afraid...

Intake air temp looks suspicious, unless the car had been parked with a hot engine and bonnet closed before the test. In any case, it only causes a small correction. Coolant temperature is much more important.

MAF values look plausible, although a comparison with a known OK 2.2 would help.

Was the engine hot during the test? Had it been running for a few minutes or just started? Just wondering if O2 Loop Open ever changes to O2 Loop Closed? Normally they go closed loop pretty quickly after startup unless stone cold.

The car had just been on a 10 mile run to get it warmed up for the test then sat idling for maybe 5 minutes till i got set up and all through the test .... bonnet was never open ( i never thought to open it ).  Im sure when i was just playing with the tester that i did see it in Loop Closed at some point .... God i hate this car now  :D :D :D :'(

Intake air temp should drop quite quickly when revving.........

It looks a bit to high for more liking.
