Cylinder heads
« on: 28 February 2009, 12:37:47 »

Hi everyone, I am new to the site and wondered if anyone can tell me if the 3ltr and 2.5 heads are interchangeable, as I would like to fit the heads from a 97 2.5 onto a 97 3ltr. I understand the camshafts are different but are the heads and valves indentical?
I hope someone can help,
cheers

I believe they are different and will change the compression ratio..

I think I remember MDTM saying fitting 3ltr heads to a 2.5 will lower compression, thus reduce power...

Fitting 2.5 heads to a 3ltr should then have the opposite effect.

I know alot of Vectra owners fit 2.5 heads to 3ltr bottom ends...

Thanks for the info, my other option is to put the complete 2.5 engine into the 3ltr does anyone know if this is a straight forward swap and what other items eg ECU etc would I need from the donor car?
Thanks
