Trade club and brake change

Hello all,

I have seen references to "trade club" in various posts. What is this please?

I need to change front brake discs and pads on my 2002 2.6 CDX, does anyone have any advice please, other than that in the forum technical guides.

Trade club is a card that allows you to get reduced-price parts, get it either through a dealer (if you're in the trade), or join Autobahnstormers for £15/ year.

It's still £20 per year bud  :y. I have received the members mag through the other day and still staes £20 per year.

Where abouts are you?  The last time I bought discs I got non genuine ones, because even with Tradeclub prices, GM ones were dear. ::)

Aylesbury, where the ducks come from - just placed my order with Autovaux - £77 for two front discs and a set of pads and £7-50 for delivery! Should (hopefully) be here tomorrow then I can get to it. I did check the price of a setup from EBC Direct but that was just under the ton  :o

Fit only genuine Vx front discs - a lot of members, including myself, have found this out through bitter experience!!

Front discs and pads for V6 on TC around £70.

I've found cheap pattern to be utterly rubbish.  Decent stuff is OK.  Genuine GM on TC represents an excellent price/performance compromise.

Don't forget you need the wear sensors ;)


I used to live in Aylesbury for years - grew up on Bedgrove, lodged in Elmhurst, then bought my first house in Southcourt (all I could afford, but I was in a pretty reasonable area there, right next to the OAP bungalows)

OK now I'm worried. Is Autovaux OK or have I just made a big mistake? Does the wear sensor (is there one each side?) have to be changed or can it be salvaged if you're very careful?

Only one sensor fitted. You`ll be lucky to save it as they get brittle over time :)

If autovaux provide genuine GM parts, that will be fine.

Chances of reusing the sensor is pretty slim.
